Happy times in noisy village

When I read this book, I wanted to do the same activities than the kids in the book. It was just sooooo tempting! I just loved it.

All-of-a-kind family

This book is really cute... (for girls). If you would like an example, here is one. The 5 girls were going to the library and they were waiting for Sarah. They found her crying because she couldn't find her library book. She was crying because she will have to pay for that book and she did not have enough to buy the doll she has been saving and pay for the lost book. When they arrived at library, all of Sarah's sisters helped her pay for the book.

Description

Five high-spirited little girls have simple but happy times together growing up on New York's lower east side at the turn of the century. An understanding mother and father, rich with kindness though poor in money, add to the warmth and humour of their day-to-day adventures.

The castle of adventure

If I where a critic, I would say that the beginning is a bit too boring and that you  don't quite think it will be interesting. But I'm not a critic, so too bad. The way they talk, is old british so you can kind of guess that this is a old book.

Description

Four kids, 2 girls and 2 boys, set out in a little cottage for the holidays, they find themselves sucked into an adventure. There is an old castle on top of the hill, what's the story behind it? Who signals from the tower at night? And why are they asking all these questions? I mean whose not curious? When Philip, Dinah, Lucy-Ann and Jack set out to the castle to ask there questions, something very creepy happened. You'll have to read the book to find out the rest (Sorry).

The forgotten door

This book is kind of weird, and at some point, at the beginning, it was kind of hard to really understand. Anyhow, it's a cool book and sometimes, you would think that the boy on the cover was from our world.

Description

A boy from another world fell through a door to our world. His name was Jon and he has lost all memory. He can't remember who he is or where he came from. He only knows he fell through the forgotten door the strange planet, Earth, and he has to find someone who will help him. The weird thing is that Jon can read minds. When everybody discovers he can read minds, they begin to freak out. Then he goes to court and he has to explain himself to the judge. As his "adoptive family" help him restore his mind, Jon has to go through countless adventures.

Mary Jane

This is a heart warming story. I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure this was a true story. Anyway, if it is, it's because of these two kids that now, black children can go to white schools! :) I, personally, like this story because Mary Jane was very brave and she did not abandoned her dream. Her dream was to go to the school she is going to right now. The name of that school is Wilson Junior High.

Description

A 14 year old girl named Mary Jane, is going to a new high school. When her grandpa told her to ignore the insults because she was black, she just said that she was pretty sure she wouldn't get any insults. The reason her grandpa was so worried, was that she was the first african girl to go to the school she was going to go. The name of that school is Wilson Junior High. On the first day of school, she was escorted by 4 police men and her dad said it was to protect her from the screaming and insulting crowd that wanted to hurt her. In class, a girl named Darlene moved her desk away from Mary Jane and said her mom did not want her sitting beside a black girl. ( How insulting!!! :( ) But then one day, Mary Jane discovered there was a girl that did not hate her, that not the whole world hated her and that she was famous because she was the first black girl to go to a proper high school. She decided, also, that she was going to face all the mean people and do something about it... ( Read the book to find out the rest.)

A gift of magic

This is a great book... I know it's called the gift of magic, but in fact it's a 8th grade girl that discovers she can see in the future and other places like were her dad is, and stuff like that. You never know what will happen next. It's just a bit sad, but besides that, it's a really cool book. I know on the cover it's a girl that it's a girls book... Anybody can read it.
