The long winter

This is the 6th book of the series and the last book I have. This is a lovely book that gives you chills about freezing winters and warm thoughts about a family supporting each other.

Description

On the empty winter prairie, gray clouds to the northwest meant only one thing: a blizzard was seconds away. The first blizzard came in October. It snowed almost without stopping until April. The temperature dropped to forty below. Snow reached the rooftops. And no trains could get through with food and coal. The townspeople began to starve. The Ingalls family barely lived through that winter. And Almanzo Wilder knew he would have to risk his life to save the town.

On the banks of Plum Creek

Sadly, I do not own the third book of the series called Farmer Boy. I do although have the next book in the series, On the Banks of Plum Creek, which tells all about living in Plum Creek, Minnesota.

Description

At first, the Ingalls lived in a sod house in Minnesota. The Pa built a clean new house beside Plum Creek, buying the materials for it on credit, intending de pay for them with the fall wheat harvest. But just before the harvest, a strange glittering cloud suddenly blocked out the sun. Plunk! Something dropped on Laura's head, and fell to the ground. It was the biggest grasshopper she had ever seen. Millions of them descended over the country-side, and then there was no crop.

Little house on the prairie

On with the second and probably the most known book of all, Little House on the Prairie. With the same Ingalls family, they set off on another adventure by covered wagon.

Description

The Big Woods was getting too crowded. So Pa sold the little log house and built a covered wagon. They were moving to Indian country! They traveled all the way from Wisconsin to Oklahoma, and there Pa built the little house on the prairie. All year long Ma, Pa, Mary and Laura sank their spirits into their land and their safe little house. But their land belonged to the Indians. What will happen next?
